Welcome to XboxIssues

Welcome. I decided to make this blog after being a Xbox Ambassador for a number of years.

If you don't know an Ambassador is a Volunteer that Microsoft uses to help ease the load on the actual hard working support people.

I noticed that alot of the questions I would get could easily be solved by using Microsofts Xbox.com site.

Since some of the help articles may be hard to find, understand or the issue may be called something different in the gaming community making it more difficult to solve, I've decided to make this blog to make it easier for fellow gamers to get xbox assistance, news and all things Xbox.

If you have any Xbox related question you can find the answer to feel free to contact me on YouTube, twitter or in the comments.

NEWS: Support Virtual Agent is Here to Help

After a successful Insider testing period, we’re delighted to announce that Support Virtual Agent is now rolling out to all players in the US. We’d like to thank Insiders for their help in testing and providing feedback for this new feature.

Support Virtual Agent is an AI-powered feature built to help Xbox players more efficiently solve their support-related gaming issues, and it is rolling out to select Xbox Insiders on support.xbox.com today. Support Virtual Agent can quickly access information from support.xbox.com to answer questions relevant to Xbox console and game support issues. Xbox Insiders located in the United States and with English selected as their preferred language can begin previewing the Support Virtual Agent today by visiting support.xbox.com while signed into an account that is registered with the Xbox Insider Program.

We value the feedback from Xbox Insiders for this preview experience and any feedback received will be used to improve the Support Virtual Agent. As you interact with the Support Virtual Agent, you can provide feedback via the “thumbs up” or “thumbs down” button on each of the responses or provide feedback directly via the “Give feedback” button at the bottom of the page.

How to Use Support Virtual Agent
Starting today, Xbox Insiders will see the Support Virtual Agent on the “Contact us” page on support.xbox.com. Sign in with the same account you registered with the Xbox Insider Program, then you’ll see a new option to ask our new Support Virtual Agent a question.

Once you click on “Ask a question,” you will see the Support Virtual Agent launch in a new browser window. You can ask the agent questions via text or voice, and it will answer with relevant information from support.xbox.com. If the Support Virtual Agent cannot solve the issue, you can request to speak with a live support agent as long as it is within Xbox Support’s normal hours of operation.

During this preview, you can also customize your support experience by clicking on the ellipsis menu icon and choosing between two different Support Virtual Agents.

NEWS: Forza Horizon 4 Being Removed from Digital Stores Dec 15 2024

Some how I missed this huge News announcement.  This was originally announced on June 25 2024:

Due to licensing and agreements with our partners, Forza Horizon 4 will be delisted from digital platforms (Microsoft Store and Steam) on December 15, 2024. This means the game and its additional content will no longer be available for purchase through online stores.

  • Before the delisting date, the Festival Playlist’s flow will change as follows:
  • Starting July 25, we will have the final series for the game in Series 77 which will include the last Festival Playlist that ends on August 22.
  • After Series 77 ends on August 22, you will no longer be able to access the playlist screen, except to see the festival playlist history. When booting the game, you will be taken to the Festival Site screen rather than the Festival Playlist.
  • Even though there won’t be any more Festival Playlists after Series 77 (August 22), you will still be able to see the Forza Events screen which will include a selection of daily and weekly challenges. Completing these challenges and Forzathon Live Events will earn you Forzathon Points that you can exchange for Backstage Passes.
  • We will update the Backstage Pass Cars list with all the remaining cars that have previously been Festival Playlist Exclusive after Series 77.

HOW TO: Delete Xbox 360 Backwards Compatible Game Saves on Xbox One & Series X|S

  DON'T FORGET TO SHARE:

HOW TO: How to Delete Game Saves From Xbox Series X|S & Xbox One (Updated)

Have you ever tried to load a game save, only to be met with an error stating the game save is corrupted?

Have you ever wanted to start a game from scratch but the game in question does not have the option remove the old game save data?

Simply uninstalling the game will not remove game saves.  If you have uninstalled the game it must be reinstalled to remove any game saves.

WARNING: ONCE YOU DELETE A GAME SAVE FROM EVERYWHERE, IT IS FINAL. THERE ARE NO RECOVERY OPTIONS.

Also, this can not be use to reset stats or multiplayer games like COD or Battlefield that type of data can not me removed, if you do this for a game of this type, you'll just lose your single player campaign.  This will not remove achievements either.

NEWS: Phil Spencer confirms that Microsoft is working on an Xbox handheld (Rumor?)

Microsoft is officially exploring the handheld gaming market, with Xbox chief Phil Spencer recently confirming that the company is working on prototype devices. In an interview with Bloomberg, Spencer revealed that Microsoft is assessing its options and taking early steps toward developing a handheld. He noted that, although there’s nothing definitive yet, the team’s expectation is to eventually enter the handheld category. To guide the design process, Spencer has tasked his team with analyzing existing handheld devices to shape Microsoft’s own vision.

While Spencer expressed enthusiasm, he set clear expectations by stating that any final handheld console is likely still a few years away. During the 2024 Summer Game Fest, he responded to questions about handheld gaming rumors, suggesting that he personally supports the idea of an Xbox handheld: “So we should have a handheld? I think we should have a handheld too,” he remarked, while stopping short of confirming an active project.

Microsoft’s recent moves reflect a broader strategy to reach gamers on multiple platforms, a philosophy Spencer reiterated in the Bloomberg interview. As part of this approach, Microsoft has already begun rolling out Xbox titles on other systems and, according to Spencer, there are no “red lines” limiting their willingness to bring more Xbox games to PlayStation. This shift highlights Microsoft’s commitment to making Xbox content more widely accessible, regardless of the device or platform, as they seek to meet players wherever they are.

Spencer’s statements come as Microsoft navigates a rapidly evolving gaming landscape, where handheld devices like the Nintendo Switch, Steam Deck, and ROG Ally have captured attention. By exploring this path, Microsoft is positioning itself to potentially offer its own unique device, possibly linked to its Game Pass service and cloud gaming initiatives, giving players new ways to engage with the Xbox ecosystem beyond traditional consoles.

HOW -TO: Are Xbox services down? How to check server status

Bugs and errors in video games and live service platforms can catch you by surprise, especially if there’s seemingly no way to fix the issue. Occasionally, Xbox will encounter server-wide errors that affect thousands, potentially millions of players, with a fix taking some time to appear.

In the meantime, you can check Xbox’s server status to see if it’s a server-side problem or a client-side issue you can fix within minutes.

How to check Xbox server status

The two main ways to check Xbox’s server status are to view the official Xbox Status support page, social media such as the Xbox Support X account, or third-party sites like Downdetector if you suspect the support page isn’t up-to-date. More often than not, at least one of these resources will reveal issues with Xbox’s services, with specific categories such as account and login problems, cloud gaming bugs, or store and subscription errors, if any exist.

In most cases, you’ll have to wait until Microsoft resolves these issues. Occasionally, the solution is as easy as restarting your Xbox, turning your router on and off, or double-checking your Xbox account to see if it’s an account-related problem. However, the most common situation is that it’s a server-side error on Xbox’s end that Microsoft has to step in and fix before you can play your games again.

Xbox’s Status page, in particular, has detailed coverage of various services, with the list below highlighting each:

      • Accounts and Profile
      • Friends and Social Activity
      • Cloud Gaming and Remote Play
      • Games and Gaming
      • Online Safety and Family
      • Store and Subscriptions
      • Sharing and Broadcasting
      • Devices and Networking
      • Multiplayer Gaming
      • Support and Services
      • Apps and Mobile
Each section has its own current issues section, if any, and Xbox’s status on the situation. If there is an issue they’re aware of, you’ll find a timeline mentioning the outage report, Xbox identifying the problem, and when they resolve it. It’ll also mention areas you may be unable to access, such as account sign-in, multiplayer gaming, or purchases.

If Xbox’s server status pages show that everything is operational, there’s a chance your error or issue is a game-specific bug or an issue with your console. In this case, you may have to run some troubleshooting with your Xbox, such as seeing if it’s a hardware issue or diving into a particular game’s server status to see if the error only impacts one or two games.

SYSTEM UPDATE: Xbox September Update – Game Bar Compact Mode Now Available & More

We’re continuing to bring new ways to make Xbox better based on your feedback. This month’s update has brand-new experiences across PC gaming, Xbox apps, consoles and more. Read on for all the details:

      Xbox Consoles

Pre-download Your Games and Start Playing When the Update Is Live
No more waiting for game updates to download. Now you can jump in and start playing right when the update goes live. To start using this new option on your console go to My Games & Apps > Manage > Updates where you’ll be able to see all available pre-downloads. This feature is supported by some of your favorite games now, including Sea of Thieves, Minecraft, Cassette Beasts – and expect many more titles to support it soon.

New Wish List Notifications for Free Play Days and More
Is your wish list up to date? Because it’s about to get even more helpful. Your wish list already lets you keep track of your most wanted games, Free Play Days, add-ons and more, and notifications will help you keep track of when those long-awaited games pop up. With the new update, when a game on your wish list is released, enters the Game Pass library, or becomes available as part of a Free Play Day promotion, you will now receive console notifications. These notifications can be enabled or disabled per your preference in your wish list notification settings.

      PC Gaming

Game Bar Compact Mode Is Now Available for All PC Players on Windows.
In August, we announced that Game Bar Compact Mode, a new mode optimized for smaller screens and Windows handhelds, was available to Xbox Insiders.

Today, we’re excited to share that all PC players can now enjoy Game Bar Compact Mode on their favorite Windows devices. You can view recently played games, access common game launchers and other gaming utilities, and explore the Widget Store, where you can discover and manage widget applications.

With Compact Mode enabled, access to widgets and navigation is simplified to ensure you can get to the content you want as easily as possible on smaller screens. Compact Mode is also optimized to navigate with a controller, and you can quickly switch between widgets with left and right bumpers (LB/RB).

We also added a new feature in Game Bar Compact Mode to allow you to quit a game that is running by going to the Home widget, selecting the game and pressing close – giving you a faster option than quitting from the game itself or navigating out to your desktop. To turn on Compact Mode, go to Game Bar Settings and, under the General tab, switch on the Compact Mode toggle.

We’re just getting started with Game Bar and can’t wait to share new improvements such as modernizing the look and feel and adding support for virtual keyboard navigation with future updates. You can learn more about Game Bar Compact Mode by visiting the feature overview page.

More Game Management Options Coming Your Way Via the Xbox App on PC
As we announced back in August, we are continuing to enhance game management experiences in the Xbox app on PC. This time, we have made additional improvements to save you download space and time managing your library of games on PC.

      • Easily view and install all add-ons upon game installation.
Now you can view and install all add-ons related to the game that you are installing, regardless of when you acquired them or if they were part of the same bundle. This helps you see all content related to the game you are installing at a glance, instead of having to navigate the app to see and install the different add-ons or content tied to the game you want to play.

      • Ability to manage all your game content in one place.
If your installed game has add-ons or additional content, we’ll display it all in one place. This is also beneficial to manage any additional content you might have acquired after you added a game to your collection. To access this new view, right-click on any game that you have installed either going to your library or the left navigation panel. Then click on “Manage” and go to the new “Add-ons” section.

Here, you can find all your existing friends in the Friends list, accept (or delete) new friend requests, or find someone new and send a friend request of your own.

It’s just as easy from all the devices you’re already using! Starting with Xbox consoles, Windows PCs and handheld devices, and coming to the rest of your devices later, you’re never far from your friends.

      Managing your social experience
With these updates, we are also adding new privacy and notification settings, letting you decide who can send you friend requests or follow your account and which notifications you receive.

You can manage who can send you friend requests, or follow your account, directly from your Xbox console by navigating to Settings > Account > Privacy & online safety > Xbox privacy, then select View details & customize > Friends, followers & clubs to customize your settings. You can also update your notification preferences on Xbox consoles from Settings > Preferences > Notifications.

Team Xbox is bringing new ways to make Xbox better based on your feedback. This month’s update has brand-new features and experiences across consoles, wireless controllers, PC gaming, and Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta).

      Xbox Console Updates

Personalize Your Home Backgrounds Even More
Do you have a favorite dynamic background? Or do you prefer to look at game art? Before today’s rollout, you had to decide whether you wanted to enjoy that dynamic background vs. rotating through all the game art. Now you can mix and match – no need to compromise. You can find the new options under Settings > General > Personalization > My Background > Show selected game art.

Want even more options? There’s also a new setting that lets you adjust your dynamic background color without changing your profile color.

Easily Connect Your Xbox to Your Wireless Networks
Switching between Wi-Fi networks just got a whole lot easier for your Xbox. You can now remember up to 10 wireless networks that you’ve used before and hop on them without typing the passwords again. It’s also easy to forget and disconnect from the wireless networks you’re done with. No need to remember the Wi-Fi from your trip – unless you plan to go back! To check this out, go to Settings > General > Network settings > Manage wireless networks > Manage my networks.

Manage Your Subscriptions Directly From Your Console
You can now update your subscription plan or turn on recurring billing within your console settings. Go to Settings > Account > Subscriptions, select your subscription, and then choose Change subscription. Once you’re there, you’ll be able to select the options that work best for you.

Some Experiments You Might See on Your Console
We’re always experimenting and looking for ways to make your console experience even better. This month, you may notice updates such as the ability to find people using console search, updates to the Game Pass page layout and style, and additional information to search card results and flashcard store buttons. As we roll out these experiments, a random subset of players will be able to give them a try.
