Welcome to XboxIssues

Welcome. I decided to make this blog after being a Xbox Ambassador for a number of years.

If you don't know an Ambassador is a Volunteer that Microsoft uses to help ease the load on the actual hard working support people.

I noticed that alot of the questions I would get could easily be solved by using Microsofts Xbox.com site.

Since some of the help articles may be hard to find, understand or the issue may be called something different in the gaming community making it more difficult to solve, I've decided to make this blog to make it easier for fellow gamers to get xbox assistance, news and all things Xbox.

If you have any Xbox related question you can find the answer to feel free to contact me on YouTube, twitter or in the comments.

TUBE FINDS: How To Download Xbox 360 Games If You’re Not A Preview Member

Microsoft might close this loophole eventually, but for now, it seems to be working.

If you want to get in on backwards compatibility right now, this method comes courtesy of Gamingbygamers on YouTube. It only seems to work with digitally purchases on Xbox 360.

The steps are simple enough. If you have a friend that’s participating in the Xbox One preview program, you can use their profile to unlock the games on your own profile.

First, navigate to the friends tab on the dashboard. Specifically, the “popular with friends” section. Then, click on the “...” button at the bottom, which takes you to a much bigger list.

Then, click on the game. In this case, we’re looking at A World of Keflings.

This allows you to pull up the proper store link that’s not available to regular users.

Voila! Provided you already own a copy of the game, you’re good to go.

Of course, since it’s a preview program, beware that it could crash. It’s rolling out to everyone else later this year, and Microsoft has promised lots more games will end up being compatible.

NEWS: MS Plans Xbox One dashboard update includes a huge new design and Cortana

Microsoft is planning to update its Xbox One console with a huge new update. The software giant provided an early look at a new dashboard update today, which is said to be "coming soon," and there are a lot of changes. Firstly, Microsoft appears to be moving away from the tiled interface that was introduced with the Xbox One. The new dashboard includes features that focus on speed and performance, and a design that's a lot more simplified.

There's one-click access to things like sharing or achievements, and a new pane that can slide in when you double-tap the Xbox button on a controller. The pane appears to be the quickest way to access notifications, messages, quick settings, and your friends list. If you're using a party on an Xbox One then this will be shown in the quick pane, and it's easy to add and remove friends from party chat. There's also a new trending section on the right that highlights top Xbox gamers, suggested friends, and a lot more.

he biggest new addition is Cortana integration. It looks like Microsoft's Kinect system will be getting a big upgrade. Microsoft demonstrated Cortana on Xbox One today, and the commands are a lot more powerful than what exists today. Saying "Hey Cortana, record the last minute and share it to my activity feed" will publish a game clip straight away. Likewise, "Hey Cortana, start a party and invite Amanda" will invite a friend into a voice chat all without having to lift your fingers from your controller. Cortana appears in the top left of the interface and works in the background. It's not clear whether you'll need Kinect to use Cortana, or whether a headset will work, but the integration looks impressive.

Microsoft isn't stating exactly when this new Xbox One dashboard update will be rolled out, but the company does say it's "coming very soon" and arriving in the fall. So expect to see this debut some time after Windows X is available next month.

GAME PREVIEW: Elite: Dangerous & The Long Dark

At the #XboxE3 briefing Microsoft announced an exciting new pilot program called Xbox Game Preview – a feature that allows players the opportunity to download and evaluate a selection of games under active development. Every game in the program has a free trial, allowing the community to get involved and provide feedback during the development process.

The first two titles in the Xbox Game Preview program are now available in the Xbox store.

 Dangerous (Game Preview)

Note – This game is a work in progress. It may or may not change over time and may not release as a final product. Please purchase only if you are comfortable with the current state of the unfinished game.

Elite Dangerous is the definitive massively multiplayer space epic, bringing gaming’s original open world adventure to the modern generation with a connected galaxy, evolving narrative and the entirety of the Milky Way re-created at its full galactic proportions. Starting with only a small starship and a few credits, players do whatever it takes to earn the skill, knowledge, wealth and power to survive in a futuristic cutthroat galaxy and to stand among the ranks of the iconic Elite.

E3 NEWS: Castle Crashers Remastered

Indie powerhouse The Behemoth has confirmed that an updated version of Xbox 360 smash Castle Crashers will be coming to Xbox One this year, ahead of its new title, the long-in-development Game Four.

Castle Crashers Remastered will feature a 5x increase in texture sizes; an uncapped 60fps framerate; a series of performance updates to gameplay and online multiplayer and a new minigame called Back Off Barbarian which will be exclusive to the Remastered edition. It is, we are told, a simple but compulsive mini-game for up to four players in which you use the d-pad to avoid enemies.

The game was announced during Microsoft's E3 conference, alongside the enigmatically-titled Game Four, which the studio has been working on since the release of its last game Battleblock Theater. There's a (spoiler-filled) chunk of that below; we'll have some new footage shortly once the video team have finished going through the Ubisoft stream.

YSK: Xbox One Backward Compatibility

Xbox One Backward Compatibility will here, soon, sooner for Preview members. Now you can play a growing number of your Xbox 360 games on Xbox One at no additional cost. With over 100 titles slated for this fall, and hundreds more added every month, Xbox One is now the best place to play your Xbox 360 games. Experience the greatest games lineup in Xbox history—exclusively on Xbox One.

  • Xbox One Backward Compatibility is available at no additional cost, so you don’t have to pay to play games you already own.
  • Keep your game saves, game add-ons, achievements, and Gamerscore.
  • Enjoy the advanced features of your Xbox One like Game DVR, Screenshots and Windows 10 streaming.
  • Play multiplayer with your friends no matter which console they’re on.
  • Xbox One Backward Compatibility works with disc-based and digital games.

The Xbox One Backward Compatibility Beta is available starting June 15 for Xbox preview members. The program will launch broadly in fall 2015.

The digital titles that you own and are part of the Back Compat game catalog will automatically show up in the “Ready to Install” section on your Xbox One. For disc-based games that are a part of the Back Compat game catalog, simply insert the disc and the console will begin downloading the game to your hard drive. After the game has finished downloading, you will still need to keep the game disc in the drive to play.

E3 NEWS: Xbox One Game Preview lets you play games still in development

Xbox One will allow you to "buy and play a selection games while they're still in active development" with a system similar to Steam's Early Access.

Unlike Steam, Microsoft mandates each game on the service has a free trial so you can decide whether or not you want to buy into early access and play games before they are finished.

Xbox Game Preview launches with The Long Dark, Shelter, Elite: Dangerous and DayZ.

E3 NEWS: Microsoft announces 'Rare Replay," with 30 classic Rare games

Rare Replay will hit Xbox One on August 4 for $30, Microsoft announced today. It will include 30 games as an anthology of sorts, including Perfect Dark, Blast Corps, Battletoads, and even retro classics like Snake Rattle N' Roll.

E3 NEWS: Xbox One Elite Controller lets you customise it

At the Microsoft expo at E3, Microsoft has unveiled its new Xbox One controller design, dubbed the “Elite.”

Microsoft is claiming it will have increased precision, but more importantly it will also bring customisation options such as trigger values, button remapping and component swapping.

It’s wireless, and will work on PC and Xbox One. We currently don’t have any release date for it, but it looks pretty rad.

Packing a huge amount of customisation and functionality the new Xbox Elite Wireless Controller is coming this Autumn, with both Xbox One and Windows 10 compatibility out of the box.

The big change is there's two pairs of paddle switches on the reverse of the new Elite controller and a host of extra precision functions to the triggers, analogue sticks and the funky, re-designed D-pad.
The more aggressive-looking controller has taken the same overall design as the traditional Xbox One controller, and made it...y'know...more elite.

It's those new paddle switches which will garner the most early attention, making it a beast for any racing game, from Project Cars to the new Forza.

But everything else about it has been redesigned to allow a greater level of flexibility and accuracy than the existing pad, aiming to make it a great fit for a wider selection of game types.
The triggers have adjustable force levels, allowing you to activate 'hair trigger' locks for the twitchy FPS-ers out there, chasing that Halo 5 Guardians fix, and for the fight fans that geometric D-pad is promising extra accuracy too.

Following that customisation route there's button re-mapping a-go-go too.

Each of the front buttons can be switched around and so can the four paddle switches on the rear of the pad. You can also adjust the actuation levels of the two triggers and the movement curve on the analogue sticks.

But if you don't like that new look don't worry as the new Elite Wireless Controller allows for swappable components too, allowing you to switch out the D-pad for a traditional switch or change around your thumbsticks too.

The official Xbox website lists it at $150 and sets it for an October release. Also, the page has it spinning so you can see all the finer details of the controller. Hope you like triggers.

The Elite Controller is also already listed on Amazon. No surprise there, because Amazon's hitting the pre-order game hard this year. Bethesda and Microsoft already got dedicated rollouts after their pressers, and Rock Band went up too. The controller's just a tiny bit behind the game.

E3 NEWS: Fallout 4 on Xbox One will support PC-made mods, free Fallout 3 with Fallout 4 on One

At Microsoft's E3 press conference, Howard announced that Fallout 4 mods made on PC would be downloadable on Xbox One. Unless Sony follows suit with this, it definitely looks like Xbox is the way to go among the consoles.

Another tidbit mentioned during the presentation was that Fallout 3 would be included with purchases of Fallout 4. For someone like me who hasn't yet dove into the series, this is looking more and more like a good starting point. The announcement was made for Xbox One, pairing with the backward compatibility announcement. We have reached out to Bethesda to see if the offer applies to PlayStation 4 as well.

Additionally, Xbox One copies of Fallout 4 will come with Fallout 3, Microsoft announced.

E3 NEWS: Xbox One will now be backwards compatible

Phil Spencer just dropped a bombshell at Microsoft's E3 presser. Xbox One will be backwards compatible with Xbox 360 games. By this holiday, 100 titles that you've already purchased will be playable on Xbox One.

Microsoft used Mass Effect to show how the native compatibility works. Both physical and digital games will work. In the case of the former, just pop the disc in to initiate a download.

Not everyone has to wait until the holiday season, however. Xbox Preview members will have access to a small offering of titles starting today.

Check out our "You Should Know Xbox One Backwards Compatibility", it includes a list of currently supported games.
