NEWS: Global Rollout Of The New Xbox One Experience On Nov 12

As we prepare for Thursday’s launch of the New Xbox One Experience, I want to share some details on what to expect and when. We will begin the global rollout of the New Xbox One Experience after 3:01am ET/ 12:01am PT November 12th. It’s important to note that not everyone will get the update at once, as it will be deploying globally to the Xbox One audience. As with all Xbox One system updates, here are a few things to keep in mind:

HOW TO GET THE NEW XBOX ONE EXPERIENCE?
If you use the Instant-on power mode (available via Settings – Power & startup), your Xbox One will take the update in the background when you put your console into Connected Standby mode. As this is a global rolling launch, consoles in Connected Standby will be updated at various times throughout the day based on your time zone.

If your console is in Energy-saving mode, your Xbox One will not automatically download and install the update. To initiate the download and update process, you can go to Settings – System to manually check if an update is available and choose “Update Now”.

Note that all Xbox One consoles will receive a prompt for a mandatory update on November 23rd if they have not yet updated to the New Xbox One Experience.

WHEN WILL YOU GET IT?
Team Xbox will begin the rollout of the New Xbox One Experience after 3:01am ET/ 12:01am PT November 12th.

Not everyone is going to get it at the same time. Depending on the time zone you are in, as well your Xbox One console settings, you may get the New Xbox One Experience at a different time than your friends.

Regardless of when you receive the New Xbox One Experience system update, the Xbox One Backward Compatibility feature will begin rolling out starting at 3:01pm/12:01 PM (noon) PT on November 12th. To start playing your Xbox 360 games on Xbox One after this time, refresh your Game Collection to see your pre-purchased, digital Xbox 360 titles from the Backward Compatible title list in your ready to install queue or simply insert the disc for a supported Xbox 360 title and download the game to start playing it on Xbox One.

NEWS: The List Of Xbox One Backward Compatibility Games Is Now Available

Today Mike Ybarra, Director of Program Management for Xbox, announced the first 104 titles coming to Xbox One Backward Compatibility when the feature launches as part of the New Xbox One Experience on 12 Nov.

At Xbox, we believe that gaming is universal and should be enjoyed by everyone, everywhere. Our philosophy since launching Xbox One two years ago has been to put gamers at the center of everything we do and create the best, most seamless gaming experience possible. We’re taking a major step forward in that journey on November 12 when we start rolling out the New Xbox One Experience with Xbox One Backward Compatibility.

Today, I’m happy to unveil to you the first 104 Xbox One Backward Compatibly games. Some of my favorites are included, like the complete Gears of War catalog, Assassin’s Creed II, Fallout 3, Borderlands, and Castle Crashers. The full list of the first 104 games is below and can be found at the Backward Compatibility page at Xbox.com. And, as I said at gamescom, going forward, all Xbox 360 games available through Games With Gold after Nov. 12 will be playable on Xbox One.
Our launch of 104 titles on Nov. 12 is just the beginning. You can expect new Xbox One Backward Compatible games to be announced on a regular basis, starting in December. More titles are on the way, including fan favorites like Halo Reach, Halo Wars, Call of Duty: Black Ops, Bioshock, Bioshock 2, Bioshock Infinite and Skate 3. Stay tuned because this just the beginning of a long list of Xbox 360 games that will run on Xbox One.

NEWS: Reveal date of the initial list of Backwards Compatible 360 games

Microsoft will confirm the first 100 Xbox 360 games available via backwards compatibility on November 9, 2015.

Phil Spencer confirmed the news via a tweet yesterday.

Retail 360 disks still won't natively work with the current-gen system, but - for a selection of games - sticking the disk into your Xbox One console should trigger a download of an Xbox One-friendly version, and anything you've purchased digitally should start showing up automatically in your game library.

The New Xbox One Experience is releasing alongside the greatest games lineup in Xbox history, making it an incredible holiday for gamers.

We’re going to give you a closer look at the New Xbox One Experience over the coming days, with today’s focus on your new Xbox One Home. We’ll be sharing more videos and updates, so check back often to see more details on what you can expect to see on Xbox One starting November 12.

When the update is released, the first thing you will see is a redesigned Home screen. The new design will look very familiar but we’ve made some important updates inspired by fan feedback. Your most recent items will still be front and center but we’ve added the ability to scroll vertically. You can scroll down to see the list of your most recently played games and apps, and each tile has contextual items that allow you to easily see messages straight from the developer, see which friends are playing games, and share your latest game clips and screenshots.

Pins are a fan favorite which enable you to save the games and apps that you care about most for quick access. In the New Xbox One Experience, your Pins are also included in your new Home at the bottom of the screen. You can scroll down or press the right trigger on your controller to quickly go straight to your Pins. You can also go straight to your Collection from your Pins to see all your games and apps – just pull the right trigger and then press A.

Another new feature we added that you’ll see on Home is a new tips tile. In the lower right corner of Home, you will see tips to help you get the most out of the New Xbox One Experience. For example, if you scroll down to your Pins frequently but haven’t used the right trigger shortcut to get to them faster, the tips tile will recommend you try it.
