BACKWARDS COMPATIBILITY: 19 new Original Xbox games and six Xbox 360 games with Xbox One X Enhancements

Today Microsoft announced even more additions coming to the Xbox One Backward Compatibility catalog this month, including 19 new Original Xbox games and six Xbox 360 games with Xbox One X Enhancements.

Starting today, fans can play Sonic Generations for the first time on the Xbox One family of devices alongside other Xbox 360 favorites that will receive Xbox One X Enhanced updates such as Darksiders, Gears of War 2, Portal 2, Red Dead Redemption, and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.

Later this month, Microsoft release two batches of Original Xbox games – the first on April 17 and the second on April 26. All of these Original Xbox games will take advantage of the power of Xbox One with up to 4X the pixel count on Xbox One and Xbox One S, and up to 16X the pixel count on Xbox One X.

You’ll be able to play all of these games on Xbox One through the disc you already own, or you can purchase them digitally in the Microsoft Store. Please check back on release day for local market restrictions as regional availability may vary.

As a reminder, Xbox 360 games enhanced for Xbox One X run at a higher resolution and 9X the original pixel count when played on Xbox One X. The power of Xbox One X enables the Xbox 360 emulator to showcase the very best version of the game possible with the existing assets – all without touching the game code. And through the power of Backward Compatibility, fans can choose whether they want to experience these games with enhanced graphics or in their original form. See below for how to access the setting. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is coming to Xbox One Backward Compatibility today.

FREEBIES: Xbox Live Games With Gold April 2018

For the month of April, Xbox Live Gold members will receive four new free games – two on Xbox One and two on Xbox 360 – as part of the Games with Gold program. You can play both Xbox 360 titles on your Xbox One with Backward Compatibility.

*Titles are available as free downloads for qualifying Xbox Live Gold members in all markets where Xbox Live is available. Some regions may offer different titles depending on market availability.

On Xbox One, Xbox Live Gold members can download The Witness ($39.99 ERP) for free during the month of April. Assassin’s Creed Syndicate ($49.99 ERP) will be available as a free download from April 16th to May 15th.

On Xbox 360, starting April 1st, Cars 2: The Video Game ($19.99 ERP) will be free for Xbox Live Gold members through April 15th. Then on April 16th, Xbox Live Gold Members can download Dead Space 2 ($19.99 ERP) for free through April 30th.

GAMES PASS: Eight new titles coming to Xbox Game Pass in April

This April, Xbox Game Pass members can also look forward to playing Cities: Skylines, theHunter: Call of the Wild, Kingdom: New Lands, Portal Knights, ClusterTruck, Sacred Citadel, and Late Shift, in addition to over 100 more great games included as part of your membership.
